Smoked Chilli Peanut Butter Smash Burger

Jul 21, 2025by Jeni Reeve

Behold the Butter Bike Triple Stack. Three smash patties, dripping in Smoked Chilli Peanut Butter, layered with mature cheddar slices, tangy pickled gherkins, all barely held together by a sesame seed bun.

Equipment Needed

2 x frying pans, chopping board, sharp knife, spoon, burger skewer

Ingredients

  • 3 x smash burger patties, or burgers of your choosing
  • 3 tbsps Smoked Chilli peanut butter
  • Mature cheddar cheese slices
  • Pickled gherkins, sliced
  • Burger buns, we chose seasame seed brioche buns

Method

1.) Start by cooking your burgers according to the packet instructions. We went for smash patties and pan-fried them for about 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. Once they’re cooked, pop a slice of cheese on top of each one while they’re still in the pan. Cover with a lid to help that cheese melt into gooey perfection - and to stop the burgers from overcooking.

2.) While the burgers do their thing, get your buns golden and toasty in a dry frying pan. Not only does this add delicious flavour, but it also keeps things from getting too soggy - especially with the obscene amount of peanut butter we’re about to use.

3.) Now it’s time to build your tower of flavour. Start with a generous spoonful of Smoked Chilli Peanut Butter on the bottom bun. Add your first cheesy patty, then another spoonful of that spicy PB goodness. Throw on some sliced gherkins for extra crunch and zing. Stack your second patty, repeat the peanut butter and gherkin situation, then do it all one more time. Finally, crown it with the top bun and admire your towering creation.

Recipe Notes

We used a burger skewer to hold this glorious hot mess together - and if you’re going as heavy on the peanut butter as we did (which you absolutely should), we seriously recommend doing the same.
